Workshop Series – Learn English through the lyrics of popular songs

Price: Free and open to all students!

Learn English through the lyrics of famous songs! This week, you will go through the lyrics of the song ‘Song for someone’ by U2, focusing on the pronunciation of the words and on their meaning through listening and reading exercises. You’ll also understand the general sense of the song and discuss it. You can hear it here

St Patrick’s Cathedral

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price: €6 with student ID

This is a really important historical, religious and architectural site in Dublin: named after the patron saint who brought Christianity to Ireland, St. Patrick’s Cathedral was founded in 1191 and it is the largest church in Ireland. The writer and satirist Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels, was Dean of the cathedral from 1713 to 1745. His grave and epitaph can be seen in the cathedral, along with those of his friend Stella.

Wednesday, 18th July

Visit to: Killiney

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price:€6.95 DART

Killiney Hill is a popular destination for walkers and hikers availing of the spectacular views, over the surrounding areas: Dublin to the northwest, the Irish Sea and the mountains of Wales (on a clear day) to the east and southeast, and Bray Head and the Wicklow Mountains to the south.

Friday, 20th July

Summer Party @the Bernard Shaw

Price: Free in, buy your own drinks

From 9pm there (or meet us at 5 Talbot Street at 8.45pm)

Summer’s been here for a long while now, so it’s about time to celebrate! Join us for a night of pure fun with fellow students: laughs, chats, drinks and pizza. We will have our own reserved area in the beer garden of The Bernard Shaw, so find us there from 9pm.

Saturday, 21st July

Au Pair Club Café & Board Games

Price: Free

From 1pm to 3pm at 45, Parnell Square West

Practise your English, meet other au pairs and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits along with board game challenges!

Sunday, 22nd July

Trip to: Kilkenny, Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough

Bus tickets: €30

Meet at the The Gresham Hotel on O’Connell street @08:00. Bus leaves @08:10.

Please note: This trip must be booked in advance. Book at reception before Thursday lunchtime.

This day tour includes a tour of the city of Kilkenny, the Wicklow Gap and its scenery, the monastic site of Glendalough and the village of Annamoe
