Monday Workshop Series – Learn English through the lyrics of popular songs

Price: Free and open to all students!

Learn English through the lyrics of famous songs! This week you will go through the lyrics of the song ‘Every breaking wave’ sung by U2. Focus on the pronunciation of the words, through listening and reading exercises, and on their meaning. Get the general sense of the song and discuss it. Hear it here

Dublin Castle and Chester Beatty Library

Meet at 2pm at the reception at 5 Talbot Street.

Castle admission ticket: €5.50 with student ID

Library admission ticket: FREE

Once a military fortress, a prison, treasury, courts of law and the seat of English Administration in Ireland for 700 years, Dublin Castle now functions as a site for important State receptions and Presidential Inaugurations. The Chester Beatty Library is in the grounds of Dublin Castle and is renowned for its outstanding collection of Asian and Middle Eastern art. It currently hosts the exhibition ‘Francisco Goya: The Disasters of War’.

Friday, 2nd February

Pub night: The Czech Inn

Price: Free in, buy your own drinks.

Location: Essex gate, Temple Bar, Dublin 8

Meet there at 9pm or at 8.50pm at the school reception

The Czech Inn: A chilled atmosphere and a traditional Czech bar upstairs, where you can have nice chats drinking Czech beer or get on the dance floor downstairs and follow the beat. Whichever you choose, fun is guaranteed!

Saturday, 3rd February

Au Pair Club: Café

1pm to 3pm – At 45 Parnell Square West

Price: Free and open to all au pairs!

Nice pastries, tea and coffee plus lots of chat make the Au Pair Club the perfect place to meet other au pairs and practise your English.

Sunday, 4th February

Trip to: The Cliffs of Moher

Price: €35

Departure: At 06:50. Meet at 06:40 from Molly Malone Statue on Suffolk Street.

Please note: This trip must be booked in advance. Book at the reception before Thursday lunchtime.

Trip also includes a visit to Doolin, the Burren National Park and some time in Galway City.
