Workshop Series – Learn English through the lyrics of popular songs

At 5 Talbot Street, Dublin 1

From 2pm to 4pm

Price: Free and open to all students!

Learn English through the lyrics of famous songs! This week, you will go through the lyrics of the song ‘Castle on the hill’ by Ed Sheeran, focusing on the pronunciation of the words and on their meaning through listening and reading exercises. You’ll also understand the general sense of the song and discuss it. You can listen to it here.

Tuesday, 21st August

Visit to IMMA: Irish Museum of Modern Art

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price: FREE

The Irish Museum of Modern Art, also known as IMMA, is Ireland’s leading national institution for the collection and presentation of modern and contemporary art. Together with the permanent collection, you will explore three temporary exhibitions. You can find more info about the current exhibitions here.

Wednesday, 22nd August

St Patrick’s Cathedral

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price: €5

This is a really important historical, religious and architectural site in Dublin. Named after the patron saint who brought Christianity to Ireland, St. Patrick’s Cathedral was founded in 1191 and it is the largest church in Ireland and one of Dublin’s two Church of Ireland cathedrals. The writer and satirist Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels, was Dean of the cathedral from 1713 to 1745. His grave and epitaph can be seen in the cathedral.

Saturday, 25th August

Au Pair Club

Price: Free

From 1pm to 3pm at 45, Parnell Square West

The Au Pair Club comes back with a FREE yoga class this week. Our great teacher, Claudia, will have you work on your breathing, flexibility and strength. All levels – including absolute beginners – welcome! Places are limited so book your place early by sending us your name and number by email (info@centralschool.ie) or text/Whatsapp on 085 207 7859.

Sunday, 26th August

Trip to: Kilkenny, Glendalough & the Wicklow Mountains

Bus tickets: €30

Meet @the Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street @08:00. Bus leaves @08:10.

Please note: This trip must be booked in advance. Book at reception before Thursday lunchtime.

This day tour includes some time in Kilkenny city, a tour of Glendalough’s Monastic city and a visit to the village of Annamoe.
