Workshop Series – Learn English through the lyrics of popular songs

At 5 Talbot Street, Dublin 1

From 2pm to 4pm

Price: Free and open to all students!

Learn English through the lyrics of famous songs! This week, you will go through the lyrics of the song ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles, focusing on the pronunciation of the words and on their meaning through listening and reading exercises. You’ll also understand the general sense of the song and discuss it. You can listen to it here

Tuesday, 14th August

The Hugh Lane Gallery

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price: FREE

The Hugh Lane gallery is a modern art gallery located on Parnell Square. This is the first modern art gallery in the world, and was built in 1763 by Hugh Lane. The gallery has a permanent collection and hosts several exhibitions, mostly by contemporary Irish artists. It also hosts an amazing reproduction of Francis Bacon’s studio.

Wednesday, 15th August

Botanic Gardens

Meet at 2pm at the school reception (5 Talbot Street)

Price: FREE

Enjoy a walk around the planted glasshouses, the herbaceous borders, the rose garden, the alpine yard, the pond area and the rock garden at Dublin’s lovely Botanic Gardens!

Friday, 17th August

Tour of the Guinness Storehouse

Meet at 2pm at the school reception at 5, Talbot street

Price: €15.50

Tour starts at 3pm

Please note: This trip must be booked in advance. Book at reception before Wednesday lunchtime.

Come along and experience Ireland’s top visitor attraction. At the Guinness Storehouse, you will learn what goes into making the “Black Stuff” – the ingredients, the process, the passion. The tour ends in the Gravity Bar, where visitors receive a complimentary pint of Guinness while relaxing and enjoying spectacular views of Dublin.

Saturday, 18th August

Au Pair Club Café

Price: Free

From 1pm to 3pm at 45, Parnell Square West

Practise your English, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, get treated with delicious cookies and meet other Au Pairs.

Sunday, 19th August

Trip to: The Giant’s Causeway

Bus tickets: €55

Meet at Molly Malone Statue on Suffolk’s Street @06:20. Bus leaves @06:30.

Please note: This trip must be booked in advance. Book at reception before Thursday lunchtime.

This day tour includes a visit to the Dark Hedges, the crossing of Carrick-a-Rede bridge and a visit to Dunluce Castle
